Before arriving to Japan, one of the place my husband and I were most excited to try was McDonald’s. Yes I know, out of all the cool, and unique restaurants to try we were excited about McDonald’s. So, when we got off that 10+ hour flight, that was the first thing we ate! Don’t judge, lol.
Like many of the restaurants here in Japan, there are strange items on the menu. One burger had shrimp on it and another one had avocado, which probably isn’t bad, but the shrimp burger didn’t sound too good and I love to try new and strange things. One thing that I notice was the meal sizes. A large size meal is actually a medium size compared to The State and a small is a kids size. It’s very tiny.
I tried a Chicken Filet-o and it was tasty, but my favorite part of the meal was the drink. I ordered a cherry blossom flavored drink and my husband got a pineapple one. The drinks were made with cherry blossom and pineapple flavor syrup mixed with Sprite. I did not like the cherry blossom drink. It tasted like the flavored cough medicine your parents would try to get you to take as a kid. Yeah, that bad. The pineapple was great! It tasted exactly like pineapples and none of the cough medicine taste. There were other flavors but when we came back to try them, they were gone. Hopefully they will make a return, so I can share them with you!
So Tell Me…
Would you be interested in trying any of the drinks?
What’s new at McDonald’s in America?
Am I missing out on anything cool?
I’ve always wanted to visit Japan!!! I hope there will be a huge discount on flights so I can visit it one of these days! ❤ Japan is love!!
Their menu is indeed strange. Avocados in burgers? Nope. I'll pass that one. lol. The Cherry Blossom drink is cute!!! Well, who doesn't love the colour pink, right? But the taste… hmm.. they need to work on that more. LOL Maybe it's because they used a strawberry flavor that is similar to cough medicines. XD
If ever I visit Japan, I'd also go to McDonald's and view their menu. I'm really curious. haha!

As someone who loves the occasional Maccy D’s, I’ve loved reading this post as it’s great to see all the different things on the menu! 🙂
Avacado in the burger sounds great, I’d love that! Loving the sound and colour of the blossom drink as well. A lot more exotic than the usual Coke and lemonades you get here in the UK! 🙂

So, in the UK McDonald’s is called Maccy? That’s so cool!

We call it Mcdonalds, but the ‘nickname’ for it is Maccy D’s. 😀

I find it interesting that Mac is different in every country. In France they do not have choloate thick shake!! In Greece we have loads of mac salads 🙂

It’s funny how McDonald’s is a food that people crave. I have that craving too. In the last 4 years I’ve been with my wife on about 70 vacations worldwide and we always want to try how the McDonald’s tastes like in each new country that we visit!
Keep writing! I enjoyed reading your post!

this exact McDonalds was the one I went to when I got homesick in Japan years ago! It’s a small comfort the McNuggets seem to be the same the world over, lol! I’m from Australia and when I was in America last year I noticed a large meal was way bigger than they are here as well. 🙂

The one with avocado burger seems weird to me. But I’m all out to try the shrimp. Every McDonald’s in every country is unique in its own. Would love to try McDo’s too in any part of the world. 🙂

I love those unique drinks – the pineapple one sounds great! And I love avocado so I’d probably try that burger. I think it’s cool to see all the different things they have in other countries.

I’ve never been to Japan, but it’s definitely a place I want to visit! It’s pretty neat seeing the different foods compared to what we have here in America.

I’m interested to know how did you order your food? Are lots of people bilingual there? It would be really interesting to try the food their. Any food. And thank you for sharing the size difference in meals lol. I really wish Americans would stop increasing our serving sizes. I’d like to hear about other restaurants, if any that the US and Japan share. Thanks for sharing.
